On the Twelfth Day of Christmas...

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas
my true love gave to me...

Dinner for Two at The French Laundry

The French Laundry inhabits a small, unassuming stone building in the heart of Napa Valley, once an actual laundry, now overgrown with vines. The walled garden reveals all manner of produce and herbs that may very well land on your plate that evening. Peering over the hedges into the kitchen windows, you can catch a glimpse of one of the calmest and quietest professional kitchens you will ever encounter, where the crisply dressed staff glides around as though on wheels, performing their duties with the kind of precision usually reserved for Swiss watches and German engines. Ducking through the Hobbit hole of an entrance reveals a space both elegant and cozy, with crisp linens and warm woods, upholstered chairs and low ceilings, overseen by a warm yet proper staff that perpetually embodies their captain’s all-important mantra: finesse.
